A new furniture store in Nanaimo is taking recycling to new limits.

The Muse & Merchant Home Collection, which opened recently at 1711 Bowen Rd., embraces the use of sustainable, reclaimed and recycled materials and features the best “eco-chic” furniture the industry has to offer, according to manager Sonoama Buchanan.

She said that among the many furnishings at Muse & Merchant are tables made from reclaimed elm salvaged from old buildings in China, collections created from the wood of old boats from Indonesia and accent pieces fashioned from recycled metals, just to name a few.

Buchanan said Muse & Merchant is the newest addition to the Scan Design family, which has other locations in Victoria, Coquitlam and Langford.

“This is the age of recycling and some of the furniture we have at the store makes recycling looking pretty darn good,” she said.
