“Like skin transplantations they can be taken to other spaces where they get a new spatial meaning. They take us to a world in which places are no longer fixed to specific locations, but become nomadic or ‘liquid.’ When the skins are drawn out of their original context and are brought to a new one, their character changes. The impact on for example an abandoned office building is remarkable.”

Inhabit has some serious adaptive reuse candy – if you are into that sort of thing.
We are! Especially if the setting is in an shipyard in Amsterdam.
The waterfront along Amsterdam North is a vast industrial area that was once the city’s largest shipyard. Known as NDSM (aka “City of the Arts”), the area is now full of large warehouses and open spaces that have been transformed into experimental projects and shelters. Within its grounds, the brilliant Noorderlicht (Aurora Borealis), which is housed in a former greenhouse, serves as a meeting place for creatives working in the area and offers a wide variety of tasty organic seasonal dishes.

amsterdam-based practices bureau SLA and overtreders w have collaborated to initiate, design and complete the ‘noorderparkbar’,
a coffee bar and local gathering space for residents in north amsterdam, the netherlands. entirely funded and constructed by members of the two firms,
this bottom-up project sourced all the components to build the structure from approximately 100 individual traders found on a dutch market
website similar to eBay. although solely comprised of second-hand materials, the pavilion projects the appearance of a new construct.
due to their method of gradually gathering the building elements, the design and building process occurred simultaneously.
