TRAVERSE CITY – Jeff Mugerian lives in the Lake Leelanau area and manages his own commercial and residential properties. He is taking the ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ model to its extreme. One of his properties, 626 E. Front St., the site of the former Shooters All Star Pub was purchased in August by TBA Credit Union.
Though the building is slated for destruction, less of it will end up in landfills. Mugerian, with the help of Karen Browne, CEO of TBA is recycling materials into cash for local charities and nonprofits. There are still valuable items unspoken for – but time is short for groups or individuals to remove them before keys are transferred in about another week.
“It’s great of Karen to allow it,” Mugerian said. “It was part of our agreement that anything that could be utilized would be donated and we’d just give it to local charities and nonprofits. This area’s been good to me and I feel I should give back.”
