New BC breweries gamble on hard graft, craft beer 4 – Brewed Awakening | The Province

At Four Winds Brewing Co. in Delta, Adam and Sean Mills have used almost exclusively reclaimed materials in designing the brewery’s tasting room.

Wooden palettes used to deliver materials were broken up, sanded down and used as wall cladding. The steel cradles used to bring in the brewing tanks have been repurposed as stool and bar supports. Glass insulators from old telegraph poles are used for lighting above the bar; the bar is faced with sheets of steel from old float planes found in a Harbour Air dumpster. In the washroom, a turbine casing from an old float plane houses the lights.

“The idea was not only to design the space but to create everything originally from parts you wouldn’t associate with,” Adam Mills says. “… The whole room has come together as an artistic expression. It’s been fun building it.”
