This photo of the summer kitchen at the Hoke House in Spring Grove was taken on New Year’s Day. It is slated to be torn down next week, and Paul Nevin has asked Rutter’s Farm Stores if some of the salvageable pieces can be saved. (Submitted)
He thought it was a frame structure until earlier this week when more clapboards were removed from the building. It revealed old logs underneath, and Nevin believes the summer kitchen dates to the early 1800s.
