WebUrbanist’s  HoJo’s article struck a cord with me this morning. Since so many of these resturant lodges were built in the 1960’s there are a lot of materials and quirky design elements in them.

Hundreds of orange-roofed Howard Johnson’s hotels, motels and restaurants once served fried clam strips and ice cream to tired, hungry American travelers.
